NotesLalande 21185 is a red dwarf, belonging to a common class of exceptionally faint low-mass stars. It has at least two planets in orbit: a super Earth in a very close orbit around the star, and a small gas giant in a more distant orbit. A third planet in an orbit between the other two has been proposed, probably another super Earth, though the presence of this third planet has yet to be confirmed.

A red dwarf star in Ursa Major. Though it is invisible to the naked eye, Lalande 21185 is one of the Sun's closest neighbours in space: just over eight light years away. It is thought to have several planets in orbit around it.
