The doubled image here, blue and orange, shows the proper motion of the nearby star Gliese 832 across the background of stars in the constellationGrus. The star is moving southward, as seen from Earth, at a rate of 816 milliarcseconds per year, which means that it will leave Grus and pass into the neighbouring constellation of Indus in approximately 6,300 years' time.
