Almost directly to the west of Elgafar, a spiral galaxy can be seen, appearing near the right-hand edge of this image. This is NGC 5618, a barred spiral at an estimated distance of 340 million light years from the Milky Way, and oriented so that it is appears face-on as seen from Earth.
