Notes
Alpha Tucanae is a star approaching the later stages of its life cycle, at a point where its hydrogen has been consumed, and the star is beginning to derive energy by fusing helium instead. The existence of Alpha Tucanae's close companion star has been determined spectroscopically, but little is certainly known about this second star in the system.
Dismembered by ferocious gravitational effects, a broken comet passes through the close
binary systemAlpha Tucanae. Each of the remaining fragments has two tails, as particles are blasted
into space by each of Alpha Tucanae's component stars.
