Relative Galactic Position of 139 Tauri

The galactic position and direction of 139 Tauri relative to Earth's Sun. Note that, at this extreme scale, the two stars appear to be extremely close together.

139 Tauri lies just within Taurus' westernmost border, where that constellation meets Gemini to the north of Orion. It is an immensely luminous blue supergiant, comparable with Deneb or Rigel, though rather less massive. At a distance approaching four thousand light years from the Solar System, it is only faintly visible to the naked eye.
