This planet's parent star, the distant reddwarfKMT-2021-BLG-1931, is exceptionally far from the Sun at a distance approaching twenty thousand light years. It lies beyond the Trifid Nebula in Sagittarius (which lies a little over five thousand light years from the Sun), so that its faint light shines through the gases on the fringes of that nebula.
