The outermost of two known planetsorbiting the faint redstarK2-18. K2-18 b orbits within the star's habitable zone, and has been hypothesised to belong to the hycean class of planets, with an ocean of liquid water and a hydrogen-rich atmosphere. Organic molecules have been detected in the planet's atmosphere that might potentially indicate the existence of life in its oceans, though these results are as yet far from conclusive.
