Euanthe is part of a cluster of small retrogrademoons of Jupiter collectively known as the Ananke group (from their largest member, the 28-kilometre-wide moonAnanke). The seven moons in the group are thought to have formed from an asteroid that was captured and broken apart by Jupiter'sgravity.
