A catalogue of star clusters compiled and published by Philibert Jacques Melotte in 1915, listing a total of 245 objects. Like the Collinder Catalogue (which appeared just sixteen years later), Melotte's catalogue lists the more prominent clusters in the sky, and so many of these clusters have both a Melotte number and a Collinder number. A key difference, however, is that Melotte included globular clusters in his catalogue, while Collinder - in general - did not, and therefore the intersection between the two catalogues tends to be restricted to open clusters.
The open cluster commonly known as the Caroline's Rose Cluster or the White Rose Cluster. Indexed as NGC 7789 or Collinder 460, this cluster in Cassiopeia is the last object to the appear in the Melotte Catalogue, numbered as Melotte 245. Imagery provided by Aladin sky atlas
