A small, red object that follows a distant trans-Neptunian orbit around the Sun (that is, its orbit is beyond that of the planet Neptune, carrying Borasisi through the Kuiper Belt). The object's distance from the Sun varies between 39.8 and 47.3 AU, and it belongs to the group of objects known as classical Kuiper Belt objects or cubewanos.
Borasisi's most notable feature is the presence of a companion object named Borasisi I or Pabu. Borasisi and Pabu are of comparable size and mass, and together form a binary object. Rather than one of the objects orbiting the other, both orbit a common centre of gravity, taking a little over 46 days to complete one circuit around each other. The names Borasisi and Pabu are taken from the novel Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut, in which they are fictional deities representing the Sun and Moon.
