A rotating variable of the SX Arietis class, V1099 Orionis lies in the densely starred region southward of Orion's Belt. The much brighter star to the east (left) of V1099 Orionis is HR 1861, actually a much more luminous star that lies somemwhat farther from the Sun. Imagery provided by Aladin sky atlas
