NotesTau Librae is a binary system, in which the primary blue star possesses a companion whose presence is revealed by spectroscopic analysis. This companion star follows a close and rapid orbit, completing each circuit of the main star in just over three days, and interactions between the two stars cause the luminosity of the entire system to pulsate. There are indications that, in addition to its low-mass companion, Tau Librae may also possess a circumstellar disc of material.
