Notes	Like the other members of the Pleiades cluster, Celaeno is a hot blue star, and relatively young in stellar terms (the cluster is estimated to be some 130 million years old). Celaeno appears to have a binary companion, a small white star estimated to orbit the primary at a distance comparable with that of the Earth from the Sun.

Celaeno lies on the western edge of the Pleiades or Seven Sisters, a cluster of blue stars embedded in nebulous material. The other three bright members of the cluster seen here are Electra (to the south of Celaeno), Maia (to the northeast) and Taygeta (to the north). Imagery provided by Aladin sky atlas
