p Eridani is a binary system consisting of two similar orange dwarf stars separated by some 64 Astronomical Units, orbiting one another over a period of 394 years. Seen from Earth, the stars are very close together in the sky, separated by just twelve arcseconds, but the distinction between the northern 'A' star and the southern 'B' star is nonetheless detectable in this image.
