NotesThis star's designation uses a capital 'I', not to be confused with the lowercase 'L' of l Carinae, or the lowercase 'I' of i Carinae, each of which is a separate star elsewhere within the boundaries of Carina.

I Carinae's close companion four arcminutes to the north is HR 4105. This is a white star nearly ten times more distant from the Sun, but also some ten times more luminous than I Carinae, so that the two stars appear to be relatively close in brightness to one another, as seen from Earth.
