Orion's Belt is in a region of sky busy with nebulae, and HR 1874 shines against a tendril of this nebulous material within the Orion Molecular Cloud. The light of the star Alnilam or Epsilon Orionis, the central star of Orion's Belt, can be seen illuminating the northeastern (upper left) part of this image. Meanwhile the bright star to the southwest (lower right) is HR 1861, a luminous blue subgiant. Both the nebula and the blue star are in the far background of HR 1874, each lying hundreds of light years beyound that orange star. Imagery provided by Aladin sky atlas
