Girtab forms part of the stinger at the end of Scorpius' tail, as well as belonging to the hook of the Fishhook formation. This is a spectroscopic binary, a system of two giantstars pursuing an eccentricorbit around one another that can bring them closers together than Earth's distance from the Sun.
