NotesThe primary star of this binary system is a variable of the Gamma Cassiopeiae classification. Material is shed from the rapidly spinning hot blue star in the form of an equatorial decretion disc, which extends out from the star and causes its brightness to fluctuate as seen from Earth.

A faint star a little over five hundred light years from the Solar System. In the sky, it lies in the Milky Way, between bright Alpha Centauri and the Southern Triangle. Gamma Circini is a binary system, containing a blue giant star with a yellow, F-type, companion.
