As a close neighbour of the Sun, the red dwarf Gliese 3618 has a high proper motion, moving rapidly northward through the sky against its background stars. This rapid motion is demonstrated here by the orange and blue spots to the south of the central reticle, which indicate previous positions of Gliese 3618 as it moves northward past the brighter but much more distant star HD 93198.
