Alpha Mensae

Alpha Mensae may be the brightest star in the constellation of Mensa, but its magnitude of just +5.1 means that it will nevertheless be too faint for many observers to see unaided. It lies in the far southern sky, in the approximate direction of the Large Magellanic Cloud. A yellow star, it is in many respects similar to our own Sun, though a little less massive.
