Notes70 Virginis is orbited at a distance of less than half an AU by a massive gas giant planet designated 70 Virginis b. Beyond that planet lies a disc of dust orbiting the star at a distance roughly comparable with that of the Asteroid Belt within the Solar System.

70 Virginis is a yellow dwarf star similar in its physical properties to our own Sun. It has a distant binary companion and was one of the first stars known to possess a planetary system. This seems to consist of a single gigantic planet with almost seven times the mass of Jupiter, known colloquially as 'Goldilocks'.
