47 Andromedae is a close binary system, in which two similar whitestarsorbit one another over a period of a little over thirty-five days. Both members of the system are of the type classified as 'metallic-line' or 'Am', showing chemical peculiarities in their composition (reflected by the 'm' suffix in their spectral classification).
