Westward and a little northward from 37 Tauri are a pair of overlapping spiral galaxies, UGC 2942 and UGC 2943, known together as the Crossed Swords Galaxies. Beyond them is the distorted barred spiralIC 357, with an unusual fragmentary third spiral arm. On the other side of 37 Tauri to the east, the bright pale star is 39 Tauri, a Sun-like star considerably closer to the Solar System than the giant 37 Tauri. Imagery provided by Aladin sky atlas
Though it is a faint star with a magnitude of just +4.34, 37 Tauri is relatively easy to locate in the sky: it lies roughly halfway between the prominent Hyades and Pleiades clusters. It is an orangegiant with a faint companion star.
