The complex multiple star 15 Monocerotis is the brightest member of the Christmas Tree Cluster, NGC 2264 in northern Monoceros. The illuminated gases surrounding the star and its companions are part of the extensive nebulous region extending from Cone Nebula, also designated NGC 2264, the star-forming region out of which 15 Monocerotis and its cluster emerged.
