The Omicron Persei Cloud represents a small part of the extensive Perseus Molecular Cloud. Where most of that wider molecular cloud is dark, the young stars of the Omicron Persei Cluster illuminate a patch a few light years across to create the visible Omicron Persei Cloud. The bright star on the northern edge of this image is Atik, Omicron Persei itself, which gives its name to both the Omicron Persei Cloud and the star cluster within it.
