A close view of Jupiter's inner moon Thebe, showing the large crater known as Zethus, which measures some forty kilometres from edge to edge.
Within the orbits of Jupiter's four large Galilean moons, a group of smaller moons orbit much closer to their parent planet. Thebe is the outermost of these, an irregular body averaging about one hundred kilometres in diameter that orbits Jupiter at a distance of about 220,000 kilometres.
