NotesThe Silver Sliver Galaxy is seen almost exactly edge-on from the Milky Way. It appears as a tapering sliver of light with a central bulge, and an elaborately patterned line of dark dust creating a dense equatorial band. This is one of a small clump of galaxies collectively known as the NGC 1023 Group.
