A dwarf star belonging to the white, A-type spectral class. It lies very close to Cassiopeia's southern border, and is just over 5° north of the Andromeda Galaxy. Subtle variations in its brightness shown that it is in fact a binary star with components so close that their gravitational fields are stretching one other into ellipsoidal forms.
