Canis Major

Canis Major lies along the course of the Milky Way, which places it on the plane of our Galaxy, as shown here.

Canis Major is most famous as the home of the Dog Star Sirius, the most brilliant star in the night sky. Much of this group lies within the Milky Way, and it is rich in open star clusters.
